Year 5 is where whole numbers, decimals, fractions and percentages all come together. Our structured programme uses visuals and everyday examples, like sale prices and GST, so bigger numbers feel manageable and every method makes sense.
Key Topics Covered:
Place value to 100,000, multiplication and division, order of operations, decimals to thousandths, fractions, percentages, NZ money and GST, area, volume, angles, coordinate grids, data and chance.
Parent Tip:
Look at a shop flyer or receipt together and work out a 20% discount or the GST. Short, real-life number talk builds confidence faster than long worksheets. We make sure each idea clicks before moving on.
