Year 5 English is where reading deepens and writing finds its voice. Our programme builds comprehension, grammar and persuasive writing in an encouraging space, ready for the senior primary and intermediate years.
Key Topics Covered:
Word roots and vocabulary, comprehension of novels and nonfiction, grammar and NZ spelling, narrative, descriptive, report and persuasive writing, poetry, media literacy and debate.
Parent Tip:
Read the same chapter book as your child and chat about it for ten minutes. Our tutors suggest books at your child's level, including picks from your local library.
