No. ICAS is an optional academic competition. It is a good way to stretch strong students and build test confidence.

How is ICAS different from NAPLAN?

NAPLAN is a national test for Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 that every student sits. ICAS is optional, set by year level and aims to stretch students.

Can we enter ICAS without our school?

Entry is usually through your child's school. Ask the school office about registration, as options differ.

When should we start preparing?

A term or two before the papers is a good start, with a little practice each week.

How will I know if my child is improving?

Regular quiz results and parent reports show progress skill by skill.
